Please remember Essential Martial Arts Inclement weather policy:
1) General: If Guilford County Schools close for inclement weather then so does EMA for the first TWO consecutive days that Guilford County schools are closed for an inclement weather incident. After that we take it on a day by day basis. In that situation we will make the decision by 10:00 am on the third consecutive day as to whether we will be open that day or not and that decision will be final, and we will not backtrack on the 10 am decision even if conditions improve. Our staff needs to know how they should plan for the remainder of their day. That is only fair. Please call 336-282-3000 to check the voice mail. If we are closed then the voice mail will say that we are NOT open.
2) Saturdays: If Guilford County Schools are closed for inclement weather on a Friday and so was EMA then we will make the decision as too whether we are closed on Saturday by 6 pm on Friday evening (if not before) and that decision will be final. Please call 336-282-3000 to check the voice mail. If we are closed then the voice mail will say that we are NOT open.
3) Early Dismissals from Guilford County Schools: If Guilford County Schools hava an early dismissal due to inclement weather then EMA will also cancel all classes for that day (including lunch classes).
4) Canceled evening activities by Guilford County Schools: After today (1/17/2013), from here forward, if Guilford County Schools have decided to cancel evening activities due to inclement weather then EMA will also cancel all evening classes unless EMA has already reopened from that particular inclement weather incident. We had too many instructors driving home in terrible conditions tonight. Conditions went from tolerable to very bad over a 3o minute period from 7:00 pm - 7:30 pm and quite honestly I was extremely worried for our loyal instructors who went above and beyond to teach this evening.
We appreciate all of our members remembering that our first priority is the safety of our students and staff. Our policy is not going to be perfect every time but it gives us a system to follow so that staff and members know in a reasonable manner if we are closed or open.
PLEASE REMEMBER: After we re open from an inclement weather closing, primary roads may appear to be fairly clear. However: Parking lots, sidewalks, bridges and non-primary roads may not be in that same condition. Always, proceed with caution.
DURING QUESTIONABLE WEATHER, PLEASE STAY HOME AND OFF THE ROADS IF POSSIBLE. Stay smart and be safe. You are important to us!
-Thank you for your time,
-Master Hendrix
